It is with heavy hearts that we tell you about the passing of Darcy on December 28th, 2025, at the Portage District General Hospital with his loving family by his side after a brief battle with Esophageal Cancer.
Darcy will be lovingly remembered by many; He always had time for a quick or long conversation when out and about. He was always more than willing to help anyone. Darcy worked at the Manitoba Developmental Centre for 37 Years in Nursing and Transport Services. While working at the MDC he would take holidays to do farm work or potatoes for farmers. Barry and Ian Elgert, Bert Rutbeek, Randy Painter and Greg McLeod.
After retirement he worked for Grenville Farms. Brian and Dawn Smith doing potatoes and corn, Conrad Martins and family doing potatoes where he was extremely upset when he couldn’t complete the harvest this year. These people were like Darcy’s extended families. He always had to explain the fields that he worked in and next ones to be done, where everyone lived, he always repeated this information every time he was going to the lake because these people meant a lot to him.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years Lenore, daughters Jaclyn (Andre), Charlyn (Jonah), grandsons Jasper and Nixon. Sister-in-laws Shannon and Rachel (Dallas), niece Tiffany, other nieces and nephews Brian, Michael, Lisa, Travis (Vikki) and Colby (Michaela) and Stella.
Darcy enjoyed visiting with people, helping whenever needed, trips to the cottage especially when family came out. Sea-Dooing, boating, campfires and fishing were also some of Darcy’s passions. Going to the Races at Red River Speedway, the last few years with Betty, Shannon, Andre and Jonah. The jostling with people between Ford, Chevy and Rams, he was the Big Ford Fan. He always spoke of family holidays to Edmonton, Niagara Falls, The Maritimes and recently completed his bucket list holiday this past May, A 14-day Alaskan Cruise with his wife, mother-in-law Betty, Sandy, Shannon and Charlotte.
After getting the cabin, Darcy had spent many years fixing – “always something Lenore suggested doing”, he was finally able to enjoy it.
He was predeceased by his father Dennis, mother Sharon, stepmother Yvonne, sister Cindy and mother-in-law Betty, parents in-law Les and Emily Jamieson, Twylia Jamieson, and Troy Riter.
